Chaplet of Adoration & Reparation
The Fatima Chaplet Prayer Card
This chaplet was inspired by the prayers taught to the three shepherd
children in Fatima, Portugal, in 1916, during three apparitions of an
angel. The angel first appeared in the spring of 1916 as the children
were pasturing their sheep. The angel said, "Fear not, I am the Angel of
Peace. Pray with me.” The angel knelt on the ground and recited this
prayer three times as the children repeated it after him, "O my God, I
believe, I adore, I hope and I love Thee. I ask pardon for those who do
not believe, do not adore, do not hope and do not love Thee.” During
the second apparition in the summer of the same year, the angel urged
the children to pray and offer sacrifices for the conversion of
sinners. In the angel’s final appearance, he prostrated himself on the
ground before a vision of a chalice and host and said, "Most Holy
Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, I adore Thee profoundly. I offer
Thee the most precious Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ,
present in all the Tabernacles of the world, in reparation for the
outrages, sacrileges and indifferences whereby He is offended. And
through the infinite merits of His most Sacred Heart and the Immaculate
Heart of Mary, I beg of Thee the conversion of poor sinners.” Then he
gave Holy Communion to the children.
The chaplet, approved by Bishop Peter J. Jugis of Charlotte, was
arranged by a Dominican Sister of the Perpetual Rosary whose convent is
located in Fatima. In the summer of 2004, Fr. Christopher Roux visited
this convent during his participation in what has become an annual Peace
Pilgrimage. It was during one of his visits to the convent that he was
given this chaplet by another Dominican Sister. Later that same year he
was encouraged in a correspondence with this sister to seek Bishop Jugis’
imprimatur for this chaplet. On December 8, 2004, Bishop Jugis
approved the chaplet and it has since be printed on a prayer card with
an image taken from the story of the angel giving the children Holy
Communion.
